I recently bought a $4.5 million condominium at Block Islands hotel, which I’ve lived in for three years.
And it’s now in my sights for a home.
“It’s a dream come true,” said a relieved Ira Jaffe, a real estate agent with the Chattanooga-based Realtors Association.
“The city is a dream and I’m a realtor.”
Block Island, a waterfront property on the Tennessee River, is known for its historic architecture and historic mansions, but it’s also been one of Nashville’s hottest real estate markets for years.
The hotel is currently on the market for a $3.7 million condo at 602 Tennessee Ave., which is just south of the Tennessee State Capitol and across from the Tennessee Zoo.
Ira and his wife, Lauren, are excited to buy their home for $2.8 million.
The property is owned by the Jaffe family, which includes the Jaffas’ parents, the Jafas’ great-grandparents and their brother, Charles.
“Ira and I had the same dream,” said Lauren Jaffe.
“We’re looking for a great home.
We want to stay here for a while.”
The Jafars have a house in Atlanta, and the couple wants to move to Tennessee.
“If we could get to Tennessee, we would buy that house,” Ira said.
“But we really like Tennessee.
It’s a really nice place.”
The family has been looking at Nashville since 2009, when the Jabs bought the former home of the Nashville Metropolitan Bank.
“When we bought it, we didn’t really know what it would look like,” Ia said.
But Ira loved the way it looked.
“My wife and I have had a really close relationship with the bank for almost 50 years,” he said.
He’s seen the building evolve.
“One of the things we noticed is the renovation of the bank building,” he added.
“So we’ve really loved seeing the renovations and just looking at how they’ve turned it into a modern home.”
Ira is excited to have a condo.
“This is our first real estate experience,” he laughed.
“To own a house here and to have it be on a historic building, it’s really special.”
He’s looking forward to spending some quality time with his wife.
“She’s the happiest I’ve ever been in my life,” I said.
I’m excited to spend some quality times with my wife, who is looking forward.
I can’t wait to get to the house, he added, as we drove along the street.
I’ve been looking for the perfect home for years, but now it’s time to get a real feel for the market.
“Every year, the house is getting better,” I explained.
“And we’ve always had to put in the work, but we never thought we’d be able to get something like this,” I added.
I had to pay $900 a month for the condo and it was $2,500 a month.
“There are people who buy houses at block islands for the first time,” I was told by a friend who works at the Nashville Downtown Development Authority.
“A lot of people are just looking for something different and the first home is a big deal,” she said.
