The National Weather Service says that the river, the Palisades National Recreation Area, is forecast to reach the Gulf of Carpentaria later this week.
In total, a total of 10,000 properties are under water, and the region is forecast for heavy rainfall.
“The river is predicted to continue to surge into the Gulf on Thursday and Friday with the Paliastown and South Palm Springs reservoirs set to be at capacity,” a weather service statement said.
